BARTLETT DAY CONTROVERSY RAGES

A number of disputed aspects of Bartlett
Day procedure
surfaced unexpectedly in Opening Saturday morning when Amara
wanted to go to Holyoke Mall on her Bartlett Day.
According to the current Bartlett Day
minute, persons
taking them "cannot leave campus without going through an
accepted process." No accepted process has been established.
Most people present agreed that town trips
could be
included in one's Bartlett Day, but some took exception to
such a large expedition as the Holyoke Mall.
A Bartlett must be scheduled in advance
on the calendar
in Bliss Hall and announced in Opening by the person taking
one. It must be announced on the same day or in a previous
Opening.
Regretfully, Amara was forced to cancel
her Bartlett
Day.

ORIENTATION HAPPENING THURSDAY

We will interrupt our regularly scheduled
classes to
orient ourselves Thursday. Possible activities include an
orientation within the houses, a reminder of subjects
covered previously, such as:
smoking minutes; sick day policy; academic policies; the
clearness & discipline process; Community Meeting; and the
use of Opening silence.
Also planned is something fun - if you
have any
suggestions about this or want to organize it, talk to Kate
Kerman.
Orientation will prpbably be on the Community
Meeting
agenda for committee work.
