I usually don't enjoy fantasy books that much, I prefer Sci-Fi, but this book (and the entire series) has kept me enthralled from cover to cover, and waiting for the next to come out.

It has lots of plot twists, making it far from being predictable. Many characters, all of which have advanced character development intertwining with each other.

George R. R. Martin has created a a beautiful world with lots of depth, allowing the story to expand to its full potential. Even after 3 books nothing feels "tacked" to make it convenient.

George R. R. Martin made a great story, in a beautiful world, with great characters. Then tossed out all the rules which the readers have learned to expect in fantasy books. I can assure you there will be a point were you will have to stop, and have to reread the last 3 pages just to make sure you didn't miss anything, followed by you saying "but... but ... but they can['t] do that!!!"
